The year 1540 has been one of massive changes in the reign of Henry VIII . The King's marriage to Anne of Cleves has ended and all is well with the world again... or is it? For the King's insanity grows by the minute and his actions are plunging the Realm deeper into strife...
And now his daughter Mary, the Pearl of his Realm, is set to marry Thomas Cromwell. The King's reasoning behind this is as insane as the action itself: Henry believes that by uniting Mary with Cromwell, he might unite the two conflicting religious factions – Catholics and Protestants – and end the religious strife sweeping across England...
But there are dark clouds looming over not only England but the whole of Europe. A divided realm. Three political factions have emerged: those who support Edward Tudor, the son of Jane Seymour, those who support Elizabeth Tudors, daughter of Anne Boleyn, and those who support Mary Tudor, daughter of the beloved Catherine of Aragon.
